Carl works in different mediums including screen printing, painting and woodworking , and exhibits work in local galleries such as Maison Depoivre (Prince Edward County) and Ganaraska Art in Port Hope. A new series of paintings is in the works for a show at the Parrott Gallery in Belleville opening March 1, 2025.
Carl has enjoyed a successful career spanning more than 30 years, producing conceptual illustration for books, newspapers and magazines. Carl’s award-winning work is published in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Canadian Geographic (infographic), and others. Working with Kids Can Press, he has two fully illustrated children’s books - Wild Bridges and Buildings and The Science of Song: How and Why We Make Music. He teaches information-based illustration courses at Sheridan College, including a ‘citizen scientist’ workshop for fourth year students, focused on an appreciation of science and community involvement.
Carl Wiens lives in Belleville, Ontario and enjoys exploring the Bay of Quinte area by bicycle, kayak, and hiking. Interests include bird watching, gardening, and foraging for mushrooms.
