Heavy Thinkers

I saw the movie 'Shape of Water' and I loved the machine aesthetic of the sets. I collect old technical journals and I mined the images for some heavy industrial drawings and got to work. I haven't had a lot of creative time recently, I just finished a major children's book project and a lot of editorial work.

Here are the images in the series, these are all two colour transparent images on an warm background. I really enjoyed working on these, and I kept the series rolling, longer than I would have anticipated. It's great to create flow and get swept up by an idea that carries you along. I don't know where I am going with this yet, I may be creating a series of riso prints. Stay tuned.

Print Show

I decided to archive and catalog some of the print work I have created over the year. It's a real treat to focus my energy on personal work, roll up the sleeves and work in the print studio. My friends Kyle and Chrissy at Spark Box Studio have provided the space, the screens and the time to make things happen.

I am in the process of setting up the store at Big Cartel. Here are a few of the images I have put on the site so far. More to come!

Bicycle, edition of 10, giclee print, 16" x 18"

Extraction, screen print on collage, series of 5, 22" x 15"

Bird Flew, 4 colour screen print, edition of 10, 14" x 15"

CMY-Robot, screen print on collage, series of 14, 12.5" x 16"

Birdhouse City, gocco screenprint, edition of 5, 9.5" x 8.5"

The site takes no commission and all the proceeds go directly to the artist. Support your local illustrator!  All pieces ship unframed, and are trackable.

Society of Illustrators: Annual Show

Illustrators 56 opens Friday at the Society of Illustrators in New York City.

The show is on display January 7 through February 1. I am so pleased and proud to be a part of this show, this is the second consecutive year that I have been included. I wish I could be there to see all of the work, it is a jaw-dropping collection of the best in illustration. Congrats to the Medal winners Dave Plunkert, Melinda Beck and Sarah Jacoby.
The exhibition covers Institutional, Advertising, Uncommissioned, and Moving Image Categories.
This year marks my 25th anniversary in the biz. Looks to be a great way to start the year. If you are in NYC this month, check out the show: 128 East 63rd Street (between Park and Lexington Avenues).
